Yesterday the Supreme Court upheld the Medicare surtax in the 2010 health care bill (Obama Care / ACA) and what many people may not realize is this tax starts in 2013.
On January 1, 2013 a new 3.8% Medicare “surtax” will apply to those whose modified adjusted gross income (MAGI) is above $200,000 for single filers ($250,000 if married, filing jointly or $125,000 if married, filing separately).
Check back I will be posting updates on:
- The new 3.8% surtax
- What type of income will be subject to the surtax
- How the surtax will be calculated and applied
- How to prepare for it
